- What is a CDE?
A CDE is a data element that can be used in multiple clinical studies and is required to publish primary papers reporting the results of a clinical study. Considering the aforementioned criteria, not all data elements qualify as CDEs; the CDEs are a subset of the universe of all data elements. - What do the different columns of the CDEs DD matrix contain?
CDE Grouping column - displays the Common Data Group (CDG), which is a logical collection of one or more related CDEs.
CDE Name column - displays the variable name for the element and also its XML tag.
CDE Location column - provides the name of the Common Form the CDE can be found on and also indicates the Form Type.
CDE Definition column - provides a description of the element.
Code List column - contains possible response choices for the element, where applicable.
Recommended Format column - displays the appearance of the way the element should be collected (e.g., MM/DD/YYYY for a date).
Length column - lists the space allocated for collecting the element.
Recommended Data Type column - describes the kind of data being collected (e.g., date/time, numeric, or string).
Version Number column - displays the record of the release wave.
Version Date column - displays the date that the current version was uploaded to the Web site.
- Can I download the CDEs DD matrix to my computer?
Yes, you can download the CDEs DD matrix by clicking the Download All Items link at the top right hand corner of the CDEs DD matrix. You can then choose a specific file format for the CDEs and click the Export link to download the CDEs to your computer in that specified format.
- When I download the CDEs DD matrix by clicking the Download All Items link, it takes a long time for the report to open. Is there something wrong with my computer or the Web site?
No, generally the first time a SQL report is opened on your computer it will take several minutes to load. After you have opened an SQL report once, the time to open successive SQL reports will be much shorter.
